We are now into May and things are finally starting to settle down. Valley City is slowly beginning to get back to normal but still normal is a little ways off. They are starting to remove dikes from bridges so that travel around town is a little better. The road are not the best because of being traveled on by trucks.
I have begun doing some research on the events leading up to the flood of 09. Looking back the winter was harsh and probably one of the worst winters that I can honestly remember. I do remember 97 but I was a bet younger to truly remember how much snow we had.
I have been looking throughthe Fargo Forum (www.in-forum.com) and the VC Times Record (www.times-online.com) to find info leading up to this crisis.
I truly feel that the last blizzard we had in March played a big role in a lot of our flooding. I am still looking to find the exact amount of snow but i know it was a lot. The drifts in places we as high as 10 feet. I have done a lot of research but still have a lot to do as I want to go back and get the snow amounts from each major snow fall we had in the Valley City area. I also want to get some quotes from some members of the Valley City community. I feel that the community were the ones who truly did the work to get through this major crisis and they are the ones we made the difference.

Crisis at Valley City State University
Crisis on the Campus of Valley City State University
www.vcsu.edu
The campus of Valley City State University definitely has a very different feel to it this spring. Classes were cancelled on April 15th for the remainder of the spring semester. Students will continue to finish classes online for the spring of 09. Dr. Steven Shirley all with the help of others made the announcement to student faculty and staff early Wednesday April 15th. The offices of VCSU will remain open but classes will not be held. There will also be a few more changes on campus this spring. Graduation will be held in W.E. Osmon fieldhouse (bubble) instead of Vangstad Auditorium as usual. This doesn’t seem like a very major change but I think there are many students who are upset and would have loved to graduate in Vangstad. There is nothing student, staff, or faculty can do about any of this Mother Nature is in full control right now.
Dr. Shirley has done a great job keep the VCSU community updated. He sends up weekly e-mails with new updates and also speaks on the local radio station with new updates. Not only does he want to make sure the VCSU community is updated but he also wants to make sure the Valley City community is aware of what is happening.
Keep up the hard work VCSU and we will get through this fight together.

VC Students Enrolling In Surrounding Schools
Area Schools Receiving Valley City Students
By Ryan Cunningham

April 21
Three area schools in the Barnes County area are receiving large numbers of Valley City students displaced by the flood.
To date, 256 students have either enrolled or committed to enroll at Barnes County North, Maple Valley, and Litchville-Marion schools. The Barnes County North school district has received 104 students from Valley City, and the Maple Valley district has received 132 students, the largest numbers in the area.
At Barnes County North, 98 students have enrolled at North Central at Rogers and six have enrolled at the Wimbledon-Courtenay campus at Wimbledon. At Maple Valley, 52 in grades 7-12 are at the high school in Tower City and 80 are at the elementary school in Buffalo. Students appear to be enrolling as a temporary measure while the Valley City district makes plans, but they are welcome to stay and finish out the year. All districts report that they are impressed with the kids they are receiving. They are expecting more in the near future, and say they are glad to have them.
I feel this is a great thing for the surrounding schools and the Valley City students too. The students are getting the opportunity to learn in new surroundings and to meet new friends at the same time. I am glad the parents are doing this for the children and not having them sit at home in front of the TV. I would want my child out learning or at least in the school setting as well. Just by having the children in a school setting it helping them in so many ways. We are taking their minds off what is happening in Valley City and also they are in a learning environment.

Murder/ Suicide What is our Society Coming To
Police: Five Children, Father Dead in Washington State Murder-Suicide
Families living in a quiet mobile home park in Washington were left reeling Sunday after one of their neighbors apparently shot to death five of his children at their home and then killed himself miles away.
"How could something like this happen?" asked Mary Ripplinger, whose kids were playmates of the slain children. "Everyone's asking: Why did he do it? It's not right."
Police were called after a relative visiting the family's trailer at the Deer Run mobile home park Saturday couldn't get anyone to answer the door but through a window glimpsed a child lying motionless on a bed. Click here for photos.
Earlier Saturday, police found the father dead in his still-running car near the Muckleshoot Casino in Auburn, about 30 miles south of Seattle. The father had apparently killed himself with a rifle,.The mother's aunt, Penny Flansburg, identified the couple as Angela and James Harrison and the children as Maxine, Samantha, Heather, Jamie and James. The father worked as a diesel mechanic, and the mother works at Wal-Mart, Flansburg said.
Ryan Peden, a classmate of the eldest daughter, who was 16, said she told him Friday night that her parents had gotten into a fight and her mother had left. The father followed the mother and tried to get her to return, said Peden, 16. Carolyn and Raymond Bader, a former neighbor of the family, told The Seattle Times they often heard the father yelling at the children. The Baders said they called the sheriff's department and Child Protective Services several times with their concerns. Click here to read more from Q13FOX.com.
This might be the one of the saddest stories I have heard in a long time. How could a father be so upset that he would do something this terrible to his very own children? Things like this are happen much too often in our society today. I am sure there are issues that were happening in the family that we do not know about and might not ever know about, but think about the mother who is still alive. She will live in grief for the remainder of her life. She lost her whole entire family in one day while she was at work. I don’t know how anyone can hurt someone this bad. I know those children did not do anything bad enough that they deserved what their very own father did to them. I hope that families that are having problems can look at this and learn from it. Know that there is help out there and that nothing is bad enough that something like this needs to take place. We should all keep this family in our thoughts and prayers as they have a long road ahead of them.

Depression Is Deadly in Teens
Nearly 2 Million Teens Depressed, Government Urges Screening for All
Most teens are undiagnosed and untreated, said the panel, the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force, which sets guidelines for doctors on a host of health issues.
An estimated 6 percent of U.S. teenagers are clinically depressed. Evidence shows that detailed but simple questionnaires can accurately diagnose depression in primary-care settings such as a pediatrician's office.
The task force said that when followed by treatment, including psychotherapy, screening can help improve symptoms and help kids cope. Because depression can lead to persistent sadness, social isolation, school problems and even suicide, screening to treat it early is crucial, the panel said.
Because depression is so common, "you will miss a lot if you only screen high-risk groups," said Dr. Ned Calonge, task force chairman and chief medical officer for Colorado's Department of Public Health and Environment.
The group recommends research-tested screening tests even for kids without symptoms. It cited two questionnaires that focus on depression tip-offs, such as mood, anxiety, appetite and substance abuse. It is stressed that the panel does not want its advice to lead to drug treatment alone, particularly antidepressants that have been linked with increased risks for suicidal thoughts.
The recommendations come at a pivotal time for treatment of depression and other mental health problems in children. Recently passed federal mental health equity legislation mandates equal coverage for mental and physical ailments in insurance plans offering both. The law is expected to prompt many more adults and children to seek mental health care.
I think this is a great thing. All teenagers should be screen for depression. This is a serious issue and it can cause great damage to the life of the actual teenage or their family members as well. This is a issue that doesn’t just effect one person, it effects so many individuals. This is something we can prevent as well. We should all be made aware of how to detect the symptoms that comes along with depression. I am going into teaching and I feel that all teachers along with parents should have to attend a training that talks about the sign and symptoms of depression. This is a very serious issue in our teens in today’s society.

Facebook, MySpace Reveal Pain of Musician's Daughters Before Shocking Murder-Suicide
Foxnews
The MySpace and Facebook pages of the daughters of Pablo Josue Amador, 54, shed light on the inner turmoil his daughters were apparently feeling mere hours before the murders.
''Crying/hurting inside. Don't know how to deal. Not even gonna try attempting anymore,'' wrote Amador's oldest daughter Beula ''Bea'' Beatriz Amador, 20, on Facebook at 1 a.m. Wednesday, according to the Miami Herald.
She didn't go into detail in the posting written just five hours before her mother Maria Amador and younger sisters Priscila and Rosa were killed. Bea Amador, a student at the University of Miami, was not home and not among the victims of the massacre — nor was her 16-year-old brother, who escaped.
''I have gone through so much and yet I still try to stand tall, because this whole world is coming down on me, and me blocking it hurts more and more,'' Priscila, 14, wrote on MySpace."That's why I don't care anymore.''
It was not immediately clear what either daughter was referring to in their posts on MySpace and Facebook.
Those who knew Pablo Amador, a music teacher and former opera tenor, described him as a "regular dad" who made music with his children and taught kids to play piano. They are confounded over what led him to snap.
Investigators carried out the four bodies of Pablo, his 47-year-old wife and two young girls on Wednesday, found inside their gray-trimmed, white ranch house. The son who escaped the shootings uninjured called 911 at 5:58 a.m. as he fled the home, police said. Authorities have not said where he is now.
His wife was the education director at the University of Miami's Project to Cure Paralysis.
Next-door neighbor Christina Ruiz, a 23-year-old social work student, described Amador as a "regular dad" who helped her grandmother jump-start her car several times but who was known to complain when he was bothered by noise or work being done on her house.Amador sang tenor with the Greater Miami Opera chorus and was a soloist at Kendall United Methodist Church, he said on his Web site. Officials at both weren't able to confirm that information.
Those in the community said that Amador worked at a music store, in addition to giving lessons. His wife had nursing degrees; as director of education at the Project to Cure Paralysis, she taught about spinal cord injuries and answered calls from patients looking for the right doctor.
It just breaks my heart when you hear something like this happen. As something similar to this has happened in Valley City. It was many years ago when a husband killed his wife and then himself he did not hurt his children. I am not sure if there were signs of trouble in this case. It is sad to know there were noticeable signs on facebook and myspace and none of the friends of this individual did anything to help. Murder and suicide are two things I think we can all help to prevent. I hope the people looking at this as a learning experience and how they can recognize the signs of suicide or even depression in someone.

More Missing Children
Sisters Missing After Trip to Philadelphia Playground
Monday, March 09, 2009
www.foxnews.com
Police in Philadelphia are searching for two girls who disappeared during a trip to a nearby playground.
Taliya Hamilton, 14, and Brianna Boyd, 3, were last seen in the playground, about two blocks from their home, at about 8 p.m. Sunday night.
No Amber Alert has been issued because police don't have a reason to suspect a danger to the girls.
Michelle Hamilton, the girls' mother, told MyFOXPhilly she doesn't think a stranger abducted her children, noting that her older daughter recently became rebellious and has been running off for a day or two at a time.
Taliya Hamilton was described as 5 feet 6 inches tall, about 115 pounds, with brown eyes and brown, straight hair down to the middle of her back. Her sister is 3 feet 4 inches, about 30 pounds, with brown eyes and short, curly black hair. She was wearing a red and black jacket, black pants, black sneakers and had different colored barrettes in hair.
How and why would someone do something to two beautiful children? I just cannot even image why someone would do something so crazy. Then again the mother did say that the older sister has been running away lately so it might not be someone else in this case. I feel that they should still have an amber alert out for the girls. Anytime that anyone is missing there should be an amber alert out not matter what they think might have happened to them. I can’t image what that mother is going thru right now. I know my biggest fear as a mother will be making sure my children are always safe. I did some traveling this past week and I know a few mothers and fathers throughout the airport that just let their children run like they are in their own home. I may sound way over protective but there is no way I would just let my children run in a place like the Detroit Airport or the Mall of America. There is just too many people out there we cannot trust. There have been to many missing children cases now days for someone to just allow their child that freedom. So parents keep a close eye on your children at all times. It is always better to be overprotective that it is to be under protective.

MISSING
Fishing Boat Carrying NFL Players Reported Missing in Florida
The Coast Guard searched off Florida's Gulf Coast on Sunday for a fishing boat carrying NFL players Corey Smith and Marquis Cooper and two other men missing nearly a day in choppy seas.
Smith is a defensive end for the Detroit Lions, and Cooper is an Oakland Raiders linebacker, were on a 21-foot vessel that left Clearwater Pass for a fishing trip Saturday morning and did not return. Crews used a helicopter and an 87-foot ship to search a 750-square mile area west of Clearwater Pass.
Cooper owns the boat and he and Smith have been on many fishing trips before this one. The coast guard had stated that the weather early Saturday had been fair, but got worse as the day went on. The National Weather Service said seas were about 2 to 4 feet Saturday morning and increased to 3 to 5 feet in the afternoon. Late Saturday night, a small craft advisory was issued, when winds were around 20 knots and seas were up to 7 feet or more.
There was no communication with the men even before the weather started to pick up. They were expected home by early evening. No sign of them or the boat had been spotted by late Sunday afternoon. Relatives told the Coast Guard the men had lifejackets and flares onboard.
"That's not to say they didn't send one out," he said. "We didn't receive anything."
The Coast Guard search was mainly by air so far, but was hampered by the poor weather. Just 14 feet offshore and wind gusts of up to 30 mph.
Whenever there are people missing it is a scary thing for both family and friends of the victims. Not knowing if they are going to return and if they are going to be found is very scary. I could image what is going through their minds right now. I can only pray and hope that the men make it back to shore safely.

Boy dies in ATV Crash

Boy, 12 Dead After Losing Control of ATV
Sunday February 22, 2009
In National City, California a 12 year old boy died after he lost control of an all terrain vehicle and crashing into a wall. There are not many details that have been released on this accident yet as the boy just passed about 3 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. Julio Lizarraga lived with his mother in the Encanto, California area.
The reason I choose this article is because this really makes me think about the age that children are able to drive motor vehicles like an ATV. Not only is this ATV, but also motorized vehicles like golf carts or four wheelers. I feel that in order for young adults to be able to drive these vehicles they need to have taken some short of safety course or else there needs to be some sort of law that required children to have a license to drive these vehicles. There are way too many accidents that involve young people and most result in deaths or serious injury. Children do not have enough knowledge to drive things like ATV’s or four wheelers.
Some states to have laws that prohibit children from driving ATV’s on roads but there is no nationwide law that restricts children from driving. Each state is different and I found a document from Kentucky and this is what their state laws are.
“Kentucky law is quite specific,” said Kenton County Attorney Garry Edmondson. “If you drive a motor-powered vehicle of any kind on a Kentucky road—including
subdivision roads—you must have a driver’s license.”
This means that anyone under the age of 16 cannot drive a scooter, ATV, moped, go-cart, golf cart, motorcycle, or any other motor-powered vehicle on any road in the state.
This is just one of the states in the US. Each state I am sure has some sort of law regarding this issue but I feel that each state should be the same. Also I feel that each state should be the same when it comes to young individuals getting their drivers license.

Police Have 'New Leads' in Disappearance of Missing Florida Girl Haleigh Cummings
Everyday there is something new that is coming out in this case. It just breaks my heart to keep hearing new evidence, yet they are not getting anywhere and they still have no found this beautiful little girl Haleigh Cummings.
Police said they have several new leads in the disappearance of a 5-year-old Florida girl after interviewing individuals they had missed during earlier sweeps of her neighborhood. Capt. Steve Rose, of the Putnam County Sheriff's Office, declined to describe the information Tuesday in the case of Haleigh Cummings. "We were able to come up with several good leads that we are following up on today," Rose told reporters. "At this time we cannot discuss the nature of those leads." Rose said police did a second neighborhood canvass Monday evening and got more information from people they hadn't previously talked to. They also set up a vehicle checkpoint."It's possible those are people we missed the first time — new people, new information," Rose said. "We’re still looking at everybody as a suspect at this time."
I have such a huge love for children and I have spend most of my life around young children as well. I do a lot of nannying and babysitting and I just got understand how that girl could not have work up to someone in the house or the girl making even making a fight. Also it upsets me to think that the story of the dad and his so called girlfriend keeps changing about who was sleeping where.
Police had never been called to the home in the past, but there have been investigations by a social services agency involving Cummings, Croslin and Haleigh and her 4-year-old brother Junior, according to Rose. He hasn't revealed the nature of those cases.
The Florida Department of Children and Families confirmed that the agency "was involved with the family," but wouldn't disclose details, citing confidentiality laws.
In addition to Croslin and Cummings, the child's mother, Crystal Sheffield, also has been questioned in the case.
This story makes me so upset and it’s so hard for me to understand. When I see the story all I can stay to myself is WHY or HOW. This little girl is so innocent and she has lived such a short life and now she is going through this along with her family.

Top 10 Medical Breakthroughs
Before I was a Business Education and Business Administration I was considering the psychology side of the medical field. I have always been very interested in new things happening in the medical field so when I found this article I was very interested. I will list each of the breakthroughs and talk about them a little as well. Also I have link facts that I found about each breakthrough from other sites.
#1. Circumcision Can Prevent HIV
In December 2006, the National Institutes of Health halted two clinical trials of male circumcision after an early review of the data showed that the procedure dramatically reduced transmission of HIV.
I think this is a great thing because HIV is becoming more and more common now days and we need to find ways that we can prevent it from spending and this is one way that we can start. Why not start at a young age for boys?
#2. Test for Metastatic Breast Cancer
Surgeons now have a faster way to assess whether breast cancer has spread, thanks to the FDA's approval of the first molecular test to detect metastatic breast cancer. During the patient's lumpectomy or mastectomy, surgeons traditionally examine the lymph node closest to the breast.
I am always been interested in new breakthrough for breast cancer because I know many people who had suffered from this and I lost a very close cousin to this as well. I think women need to be offer of how important it is to go in for annual exams.
#3. First Human Vaccine Against Bird Flu
In 2007 the threat of a pandemic avian flu got a teensy bit less scary. The deadly disease has killed 207 people worldwide and infected 336 since 2003. While only a small number of those cases were traced to human-to-human transmission, public health officials fear it's only a matter of time before the virus mutates into a more easily transmitted form and sparks a global outbreak. This year the FDA approved the first human vaccine against the bird flu.
I am still learning about how serious this actually is. I have never heard of anyone that I know of with this. It sounds like if someone was to get this that it would be very serious as well.
#4. Help for Dieters: Alli Need help shedding those extra holiday pounds? Overweight adults now have an extra weapon against fat: Alli, the first FDA-approved weight-loss drug sold over the counter. Alli (a.k.a. orlistat) works by monkeying with lipase, an enzyme the body uses to break down and digest the fat in food.
My uncle took this and he did lose a lot of weight. I know there was certain foods that he stayed away from because the of effect that it had on his body when the food mixed with the drug.
#5. New Diabetes Genes
Having a parent with type 2 diabetes ups your odds of developing the disease, but why do some sibs get it and others don't? The answer lies somewhere in your genetic code, and this year brought scientific sleuths closer to cracking it.
I am learning more and more about diabetes as the years go on. One of my close friends 5 year old daughter was just diagnosed with diabetes and they are struggling to keep it under control but they are learning quickly and how food have effects on her body.
#6. No More Periods
Women wanting to dodge the nuisance of their monthly menses can now turn to Lybrel, the first continuous use birth control drug approved by the FDA.
Any women would love this. To take this away each month would also take away those unwanted craving we get and the uncomfortable feelings as well.
7. Relief from Fibromyalgia: Lyrica
People who suffer from the chronic fatigue, muscle pain, and stiffness of fibromyalgia finally have a drug to call their own. This year the FDA approved the antiseizure drug Lyrica (pregabalin), made by Pfizer, as a treatment for fibromyalgia.
#8. Early-Stage Test for Lung Cancer
Lung cancer is the leading cancer killer in America and is responsible for more deaths than the next three most common cancers combined (colon, breast, and prostate). One reason lung cancer is so deadly is that by the time tumors are diagnosed, usually as a result of physical symptoms like coughing up blood, the cancer is often advanced and tough to treat.
#9. New Source of Stem Cells
This was a banner year for stem-cell research. But one advancement that may not have had its due was the discovery of stem cells in amniotic fluid. Researchers believe that amniotic fluid–derived stem cells, AFS for short, have the potential to give rise to many, but perhaps not all, of the 220 specialized cell types found in the human body — placing the potential usefulness of AFS cells somewhere between embryonic and adult stem cells.
#10. Benefits of Vitamin D
Researchers have long known that the "sunshine vitamin" boosts bone strength by encouraging the body to absorb calcium. But a slew of new studies published in 2007 suggests that the vitamin has a lot of other benefits: Diets high in D may ward off diabetes, gum disease and multiple sclerosis — and maybe even cancer. Though some findings linking vitamin D and cancer showed questionable benefit, the news on colon cancer was promising.
I love to lie in the tanning bed in the winter and in the summer I could spend the entire day outside in the sun. Just like anything else there are always pros and cons to everything and this is also one of those things.
Overview
I felt this article is very beneficial to anyone who is interested in new medical research and anyone who may be affected by one of these top 10 breakthroughs as well. There are also many links that I have added to other sites that give more info on each topic. I been very interested in these topics that I have been doing a lot of reading on the different findings for all of these. I think medical breakthroughs have come so far over the years, who knows what it will be like five or ten years from now or even if you think about it even just a year from now.

Publicity Electricity
Publicity Electricity: How to Plug Your Business Into The Media?
By: Todd Brabender
What business doesn’t want the best publicity that they can get? I found this article to be very interesting because I am in the business field. This is a great resource that I can show my students some day that will help them understand how important it is to make sure we are getting positive media exposure for our business. This quote from the article is so true and I wanted to share it with everyone who hasn’t yet had the chance to read this great article.
“The key to “seeing the light” is knowing how to generate your own “publicity electricity” and plugging yourself into multiple outlets – media outlets that is.”
There are many keys to making sure that a company has great publicity some sources are magazines, newspapers, TV, radio or the increasingly popular online news outlets, and media sources. Each and every business in the world has at least one element of it that is newsworthy. It just requires you to fire up that publicity generator and shine some light on it for the media to see.
There are many different places the publicity comes from. Some businesses choose to do campaigns to promote their products. Others might choose media outlets, case studies, or just show reporters how the business you work for is positively affected your clients and how it can provide benefits for everyone. Every business is going to take a different approach and that is what needs to be done. The same process is not going to work for all business. One other bit of advice that I felt was good from the article is, “I’m sure you’ll find that once you generate your best “publicity electricity” -- you will be “shocked” at the interest you can generate.”

John Updike dies at 76
Its individuals like John Updike that have a huge impact on people, but its not until they die that it happens. John Updike was a Pulitzer Prize winning novelist, prolific man of letters and erudite chronicler of sex, divorce and other adventures in the postwar prime of the American empire http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,483685,00.html.Updike, best known for his four "Rabbit" novels, died of lung cancer. Updike wrote novels, short stories, poems, criticism, the memoir "Self-Consciousness" and even a famous essay about baseball great Ted Williams. He released more than 50 books in a career that started in the 1950s, winning virtually every literary prize, including two Pulitzers, for "Rabbit Is Rich" and "Rabbit at Rest," and two National Book Awards.
The reason I chose Updike as the Topic of my blog today is because it’s truly people like who make a great difference in the world or writing but they are not in the public eye until they pass away. Updike was one of those novelists who wrote during the hard times of the depression. And even though he was going thru hard times along with the rest of our world he continued to entertain many with his stories.
It really makes us stop and think. Is there anything that is so hard and it can keep us from continuing to do what we love to do so much? Not only did he continue to right thru the depression, but he also continued to write while he suffered from the lung cancer that took his life. Its people like that Updike that really make me think when I think there is something in my life that is really holding me back from doing what I love to do. I need to start thinking and nothing is going to hold me back and I am going to fight for what I love and I am going to do it no matter what is happening in my life.
We should all look at things like that just as little hurdles that we need to job to meet our life goals. We are all going to have an impact on this world in some way. We will all just do it in a different way.

Managers in PR
The name of the article that I found was, “Managers Your PR working for You.” It talks about thinking outside the box and think or new ways that we can make PR work. It talks about coming up with new ways instead of always using brochures, press releases, and broadcast plugs. We need to think of new ways that we can get the message across to views. Some ideas that they give throughout the article are creating the kind of external stakeholder behavior change that leads directly to achieving objectives. Using persuasion is also very important key to people to helping their way of thinking and helping them take actions to allow success.
It is proven that public relation is based on many different aspects. The way that we act as people before they know the true facts and also change is another bring thing. Sometimes we have a hard time accepting change. When we have change or enforce something that is already in effect there are times when people’s behaviors affect the organization or group. If the effect is in a good way than the public relations mission is more than likely accomplished. Not saying that is it’s not good that they did not accomplish their goal, but usually good is better than bad.
So as the manager we need to realize that public relations can alter individual’s views to both good and too bad. We need to be open to the results that we may receive from change. And if there is one PR effort that fails please don’t give up. Always try the next thing and keep going and you will receive the best public relations results that your group deserves.
I found this article to be almost like a life lesson. Never give on something because it didn’t work. Always keep trying and you will find that one that will be perfect for yourself of for you group. The harder that we work for something also the more that we will succeed as well.

Homepages
Hello to everyone in this online Public Relations course. I feel that it is going to be a very fun semester of getting to know many of you that I have never had the opportunity to get to know or I would have never met if it wasn't for this course. I feel that this class is going to give us not only a great opportunity to get to know each other well, but also it will give us the chance to help one another learn from each other an to make us better writers. Also this class will also help us to be able to look at all views on the many different topics that we will be covering throughout the semester, both from the book and from real life events that will take place. I have had fun reading the Homepages that have been published thus far and I look forward to reading everyone who has yet to publish theirs. I love meeting new people so throughout this class I feel that I am going to build many relationships with classmates and get them know them and their views on topics as well. I feel that my classmates are going to help me look at different topics in ways I may have never thought about. They will also help me to start thinking more about public events that are taking place in our world today. I hope everyone else is just as excited as I am for this class. It seems like it may be a lot of work, but I also feel that is it only going to benefit us. Having to blog and reply to classmates is only going to help all of us to stay on top of the latest events. Also i feel that the home pages are going to help us understand that we are each our own person and that we need to respect one another views on topics when we are sending replies as well. Best of luck to everyone this semester and I am looking forward to meeting and getting to know everyone.
