John Updike dies at 76

Its individuals like John Updike that have a huge impact on people, but its not until they die that it happens. John Updike was a Pulitzer Prize winning novelist, prolific man of letters and erudite chronicler of sex, divorce and other adventures in the postwar prime of the American empire http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,483685,00.html.Updike, best known for his four "Rabbit" novels, died of lung cancer. Updike wrote novels, short stories, poems, criticism, the memoir "Self-Consciousness" and even a famous essay about baseball great Ted Williams. He released more than 50 books in a career that started in the 1950s, winning virtually every literary prize, including two Pulitzers, for "Rabbit Is Rich" and "Rabbit at Rest," and two National Book Awards.
The reason I chose Updike as the Topic of my blog today is because it’s truly people like who make a great difference in the world or writing but they are not in the public eye until they pass away. Updike was one of those novelists who wrote during the hard times of the depression. And even though he was going thru hard times along with the rest of our world he continued to entertain many with his stories.
It really makes us stop and think.Is there anything that is so hard and it can keep us from continuing to do what we love to do so much?Not only did he continue to right thru the depression, but he also continued to write while he suffered from the lung cancer that took his life. Its people like that Updike that really make me think when I think there is something in my life that is really holding me back from doing what I love to do. I need to start thinking and nothing is going to hold me back and I am going to fight for what I love and I am going to do it no matter what is happening in my life.
We should all look at things like that just as little hurdles that we need to job to meet our life goals. We are all going to have an impact on this world in some way. We will all just do it in a different way.

Managers in PR

The name of the article that I found was, “Managers Your PR working for You.” It talks about thinking outside the box and think or new ways that we can make PR work. It talks about coming up with new ways instead of always using brochures, press releases, and broadcast plugs. We need to think of new ways that we can get the message across to views. Some ideas that they give throughout the article are creating the kind of external stakeholder behavior change that leads directly to achieving objectives. Using persuasion is also very important key to people to helping their way of thinking and helping them take actions to allow success.

It is proven that public relation is based on many different aspects. The way that we act as people before they know the true facts and also change is another bring thing. Sometimes we have a hard time accepting change. When we have change or enforce something that is already in effect there are times when people’s behaviors affect the organization or group. If the effect is in a good way than the public relations mission is more than likely accomplished. Not saying that is it’s not good that they did not accomplish their goal, but usually good is better than bad.

So as the manager we need to realize that public relations can alter individual’s views to both good and too bad. We need to be open to the results that we may receive from change. And if there is one PR effort that fails please don’t give up. Always try the next thing and keep going and you will receive the best public relations results that your group deserves.

I found this article to be almost like a life lesson. Never give on something because it didn’t work. Always keep trying and you will find that one that will be perfect for yourself of for you group. The harder that we work for something also the more that we will succeed as well.

Hello to everyone in this online Public Relations course. I feel that it is going to be a very fun semester of getting to know many of you that I have never had the opportunity to get to know or I would have never met if it wasn't for this course. I feel that this class is going to give us not only a great opportunity to get to know each other well, but also it will give us the chance to help one another learn from each other an to make us better writers. Also this class will also help us to be able to look at all views on the many different topics that we will be covering throughout the semester, both from the book and from real life events that will take place. I have had fun reading the Homepages that have been published thus far and I look forward to reading everyone who has yet to publish theirs. I love meeting new people so throughout this class I feel that I am going to build many relationships with classmates and get them know them and their views on topics as well. I feel that my classmates are going to help me look at different topics in ways I may have never thought about. They will also help me to start thinking more about public events that are taking place in our world today. I hope everyone else is just as excited as I am for this class. It seems like it may be a lot of work, but I also feel that is it only going to benefit us. Having to blog and reply to classmates is only going to help all of us to stay on top of the latest events. Also i feel that the home pages are going to help us understand that we are each our own person and that we need to respect one another views on topics when we are sending replies as well.
